CPL filters cut out polarised light, dramatically reduce the glare from reflective surfaces, enhancing colours and increasing contrast within an image. They can be used for any style of photography, but are most widely used for outdoor / landscape photography. A CPL is designed to block specific light wavelengths as the filter is rotated. It is possible to remove glass and water reflections, darken the sky, remove haze or prevent colour banding.
